After having a couple of weeks of sub zero temperatures last night it decided to thaw out a bit, so this morning I was greeted with two acres ankle deep in water, brilliant! The sheep have decided that they've had enough of extreme climatic conditions and have retired to their pavilion for the rest of the winter. Now they expect me to wait on them hand and foot with regular deliveries of hay. Bobble is so lazy he pulls the hay out of the manger and makes a bed out of it so he doesn't need to move to eat anything. I think Bobble smelling hay is also a deterrent to the other two, so I have to put a separate pile for them at the other end. Now Star is down in their paddock living it large and cantering about as it's better drained down there.
The pond has been completely frozen over since the power cut last week when the pump stopped working. Every single day the ducks have come out, jumped on the ice then looked at me as if to ask where all the water has gone. They've had to content themselves with washing up bowls on the patio, where they can make an icy slick on the concrete to ensure I slip over every time I need to get to the food bins. Today we have at last manged to make some sort of hole in the ice with the aid of a sledge hammer, so the ducks are having great fun ice surfing across on their bellies before dropping into the water. They love the fact the grass is now also covered with water as it's now like a duck aquatic theme park out the back. I guess I shouldn't complain as at least I can feel my fingers today. It's all good clean fun in the countryside!!

We finally got some much needed rain today! It was so dry, but oh how I hate the mud . . . lol
