You know you're getting a bit absent minded when you try to put the orange juice carton in the mug cupboard and go to look for a fork in the fridge! I'm one of these people who generally has a million and one things going through their mind at any one time, so sorting that all out into some sort of order can be problematical. I'm "right brained" and will continue to use that as an excuse for irrational behaviour of any kind! With animals I always find it helpful to have a routine for all the daily jobs, that way I know what needs to be done next and am sure that I haven't forgotten anything. I don't think my daily routine has really varied much for ages, I kind of go into auto pilot in the morning and don't even think about what I'm doing. Usually the same thing applies to all the teatime jobs too; feed and water sheep then do Star and the chickens.
The sheep have a lovely designer bespoke sheep trough. Oh ok I admit it, it's a cheap washing up bowl but sheep troughs were about £70 and I couldn't afford it, besides which with only the three of them they hardly require a water container like an Olympic swimming pool anyway. One watering can full of water is enough to fill their "trough" so each day when I go down with their tea time biscuits I do the water too. Without fail Bobble will try and butt the back of the watering can, or worse still my knees, just to see if he can make me spill anything. After I've done them then I go off and do Star's tea. Only the other day I must have completely forgotten to pick up the watering can on my way out, Star certainly didn't remind me. I only realised the next morning when I went down and a battered looking watering can was lying in the middle of the sheep's pen. Heaven only knows what they'd been doing with it; playing football, hitting each other over the head and playing it like a musical instrument are only a few of the options that spring to mind. I'm just lucky they hadn't quite managed to rip the spout off and it's still kind of functioning, albeit a bit leaky. Obviously I'll have to remember to be more careful in future!!
