New Year!

OMG it's the first day of 2011 and that means we only have one whole year left before the world is going to end (again)! I guess I'd better make the most of it then, starting by eating this delicious chocolate biscuit and making sure I don't waste any crumbs in my laptop. Basically this year I am going in a completely different direction with the art stuff, in a last ditch attempt to actually sell more than one painting a year. I have to find a niche, and one preferably where I can find patrons who want to buy the stuff I produce. Really I need to treat it more as a proper job now. Whilst working at home has it's advantages, it also means I'm continually sidetracked by loads of other jobs that need doing, the net result being the art side of it gets shoved to one side. I am going to have to be very strict with myself about putting aside enough hours to do my stuff and not being distracted. The other part of it is not to allow myself to be stopped by my innate self consciousness and underlying perfectionist tendencies. Sometimes that prevents me from even getting started in the first place, I want to be freer in my work and able to do what I want, rather than worry about satisfying other people. So that's my goal for this year, a new collection of artwork and writing, different to what I've done before. If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got!

I think that sounds like a brilliant idea! I agree working at home would be soooo tough! I would be distracted all the time and I'm a horrible procrastinator so nothing would ever get done. Are you still doing your sketches? I enjoyed seeing them on Facebook (although I haven't been on lately). Happy (belated) New Year!

I need to get back into the drawing again as time has been an issue, or could have been lack of organisation lol! Happy new Year to you too!

How come you don't post your art on your blog anymore?
